Privacy Policy

Last updated 4 October 2026

This page explains what happens to data when you play Scratcheer. For anything about your data, write to info@scratcheer.com.

What we ask you for

Nothing. There are no accounts, no sign up, no newsletter and no forms. We do not ask for your name or your email address, and we keep no list of visitors.

What your browser stores

The game saves your daily streak, your best score and the result of today's daily challenge in your browser's local storage. That stays on your device. It is never sent to us or to anyone else, we cannot read it, and it is not tied to any identifier. Clearing your browsing data deletes it, and the game still works without it.

Photos you add yourself

Party mode lets you build a pack from your own pictures. Those pictures are resized by your browser and saved in its own storage on the device you used. They are not uploaded. They never reach our server, we cannot see them, and we cannot get them back for you if you lose them.

They stay there until you delete the pack or clear your browsing data, and deleting a pack removes the pictures in it for good. If you export a pack, the file that comes out is yours and goes wherever you send it. Only put pictures of other people in a pack if they would be comfortable with it.

Ads

The site is paid for by advertising. Ads are supplied by Google and may also be supplied by other advertising companies, including through systems that let several of them bid for the same ad space. Those companies and their partners use cookies and similar technology to show ads, to limit how often you see the same one, and to measure whether ads work. Depending on what you agree to, ads may be personalised using data collected on other sites and apps.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent message appears before any advertising cookies that need your permission are used. It lists the companies involved at the time you see it, and you can accept, refuse or adjust your choices there and change your answer later in the same message. Refusing does not stop you playing. It means the ads you see are not tailored to you.

Google explains how it uses data from sites that run its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Ad settings for your own Google account are at myadcenter.google.com. Other advertising companies publish their own policies, and the consent message links to each of them.

Links that earn a commission

Some result screens may link to a book, a film or something else connected to the subject, and a few of those links may earn the site a commission if you buy something. Following one takes you to another company's site, where that company's own privacy policy applies. We are not told what you bought, and nothing about your game is passed along with the click.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they open and roughly which country they are in. It tells us whether a change made the game better or worse. We do not try to identify anyone from it. Google offers a browser add on that opts you out of Google Analytics everywhere, at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Server logs

As on any website, the hosting provider records technical details of each request: IP address, time, browser type and which file was asked for. These are kept for security and for fixing problems. We do not use them to build profiles.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask what personal data is held about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to it being processed, and complain to a supervisory authority. Since we keep no list of visitors, there is usually nothing on our side to find or delete, but write to info@scratcheer.com and you will get an answer. For data an advertising company or Google Analytics holds, that company is the right place to ask, because it controls that data. The consent message lists who they are.

Children

Scratcheer is a general audience quiz and is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect anything from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Anything significant will be noted here rather than slipped in quietly.
