Privacy Policy

Last updated 2 October 2026

This page explains what happens to data when you play Scratcheer at scratcheer.com. The site is run by an individual operator, reachable at info@scratcheer.com, and that address is the right one for any question or request about your data.

What we ask you for

Nothing. There are no accounts, no sign-up, no newsletter and no forms. We do not ask for your name, your email address or anything else, and we hold no database of visitors.

What your browser stores

The game keeps your daily streak, your best score and the result of today's daily challenge in your browser's local storage. That information stays on your device. It is never transmitted to us or to anyone else, we cannot read it, and it is not linked to any identifier. Clearing your browsing data deletes it, and the game keeps working without it.

Advertising

Scratcheer is funded by advertising supplied by Google. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, to limit how often you see the same ad, and to measure whether ads work. Depending on your consent, those ads may be personalised using data collected across other sites and apps.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent message appears before personalised advertising cookies are used, and you can accept, refuse or adjust your choices there. You can change your answer later through the same message. Refusing personalisation does not stop you using the site; it means the ads you see are not tailored.

Google describes how it uses information from sites that use its services in its own policy, which you can read at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Ad personalisation settings for your Google account live at myadcenter.google.com.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit, which pages they open and roughly where in the world they are. This tells us whether a change made the game better or worse. It is aggregate measurement, not profiling of individuals, and we do not attempt to identify anyone from it. Google provides a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics entirely at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Server logs

Like every website, the hosting provider records technical requests — IP address, time, browser type and the file requested — for security and troubleshooting. We do not use these logs to build profiles.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to processing and to complain to a supervisory authority. Because we hold no visitor database, there is usually nothing on our side to retrieve or delete, but write to info@scratcheer.com and we will answer. Requests concerning data held by Google through advertising or analytics are best directed to Google, which acts as the controller for that data.

Children

Scratcheer is a general audience quiz and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect anything from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on this page rather than made quietly.
